ELWOOD CLARK QUEEN, SR
WE MISS YOU ELWOOD!!!!
On Wednesday morning, November 29, 2000 our ambulance was in a serious crash. We were transporting a Patient in Cardiac Arrest to Phipilsburg Area Hospital. For reasons we are not sure of, yet, our unit went out of control, struck a pole and embankment and we flipped two and a half times, ending up on the roof.
There were three of us in the back, we escaped with relatively minor injuries, but, Elwood didn't. We worked on him until additional units could arrive. On Thursday night, about 7:15 PM, our very dear friend died from the injuries he sustained in that wreck. The state police are investigating to try and find the cause of the crash.
Elwood was Treasurer of the Ambulance, and President of the fire company. We are really going to miss him, and his sence of humor. As details for the services are made, they will be posted here. Please, keep checking back. Keep the Queen family in your prayers.
Service's for Elwood Queen are as Follows:

Sunday 2-4 & 7-9
Memorial Services Will begin Sunday at 7 PM!

Elwood Queen was a super man, there isn't a thing he wouldn't do for you. He was always there when the pager went off, no matter what time of day or night it was, he was there, and he was the best darn driver any ambulance service could ever want behind the wheel. No matter how fast or slow we were going, if Elwood was driving, we knew we were in good hands. He was like All State, "You know your in good hands with Elwood!"
He may have looked mean, at times, but he wasn't, not really. Sure, he would yell at you, but, he wouldn't say anything behind your back, that he wouldn't say to your face.
Elwood told me once, that he loved hunting, that it was the only enjoyment he got out of life, isn't it Ironic, that he died, driving the ambulance and in hunting season. The two things he loved the very most.
This is probably the hardest web page I have ever had to work on! No matter where you go around town, you think of Elwood, when passing by someplace you think, "I remember when we were here, and Elwood said this, or did that!" Elwood may have had a mean look at times, but he was one of the nicest guys! Many can remember when he would sneak into the fire hall, and yell "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" And you thought you were alone, and would jump about 10 feet into the air!
Elwood was a great man, and he was our Fire Co. President, and our friend! No one will ever forget him, how could we?
Happier times! Bruce Braniff and Elwood sit on the couch talking to Christine Niebauer during one of our open houses. Sandy Queen sits in the foregorund
Elwood was even in the fire police at one time!
Elwood poses with his son, Elwood Jr., during a photo session of the fire police several years ago!
You can almost hear Elwood in this picture! As Sandy Queen (foreground) and Christine Niebauer look towards the ground! Sure looks like Elwood is making sure they stay in line!
This Picture was taken on August 6, 2000! Elwood was always working on something, here he was working as we got our new ambulance ready for service!
Conemaugh Med-Star came for a visit a few years ago, and Elwood checks out the air craft, and talks with a member of the flight crew!
Always clowning around, Elwood poses with the flight nurse from that afternoon.
Here is the last picture Elwood ever posed for me with. It was during a BBQ we held in the fall. The Ambulance crew poses with him. In back, from Left: Sandy Queen and Mary Queen.
In Front, Left to Right: Shawn Yingling, Terry Whetstone, Christine Niebauer, and Elwood!
I have many pictures from the beautiful funeral services that were held for Elwood! They will be posted in the near future!

This is compliments of WTAJ TV 10, in Altoona, as firefighters from across the state march towards the CMA Church for Elwoods Funeral. The march is being led by Elwoods station, Irvona
